There’s something a little magical about a good market.

It’s not just shopping.
It’s wandering. Discovering. That moment when you pick something up and just know it’s coming home with you.

If you’re looking for something fun to do around Sacramento this spring, here are a few of my favorite local markets to explore… the kind where you can grab a drink, stroll through handmade goods, and maybe leave with something unexpectedly perfect.

(And yes… you’ll usually find Hex & Hook Crochet tucked in among them 💜)

Books & Brews at Movement Brewing Co.

May 3 1:00–4:00 PM

This one leans into a slower, cozier kind of afternoon… and it combines two of our favorite things: books and brews.

Set inside a local craft brewery, Books & Brews brings together:

  • handmade vendors

  • book lovers and small book businesses

  • a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere

There’s even a storytime woven into the event, which makes it especially fun if you’re bringing little ones along.

You can sip something cold, wander through the booths, and take your time discovering things that feel a little more thoughtful… a little more personal. It’s the kind of afternoon where you slow down, find something you love, and maybe even meet the person who made it.

✨ It’s the kind of market where you don’t rush… you browse, linger, and stumble onto something unexpectedly perfect.

Hella Good Market at Drake’s: The Barn

May 9 6:30-10:00 PM

We just love a good night market, and Hella Good Market at Drake’s feels like a mini night festival.

As the evening sets in and the lights come on, the whole space comes alive with:

  • great food

  • live music

  • vintage clothing and craft vendors

  • cozy fire pits to hang out around

It’s the perfect place to grab a drink, meet up with friends, and wander through booths under the evening lights.

✨ Low pressure, good energy, and very easy to stay longer than you planned.

DOCO Makers Market with River City Marketplace at Downtown Commons (DOCO)

June 6 11:00 AM-4:00 PM

If you’re in the mood for something a little more lively, this is your spot.

Right in the heart of downtown Sacramento, DOCO is already full of movement… people heading to brunch, exploring shops, and soaking in the city. And right in the middle of it, you’ll find a market filled with:

  • handmade goods

  • local makers

  • one-of-a-kind finds you won’t see anywhere else

It’s the kind of place where you wander through with a coffee in hand, pause at a booth that catches your eye, and suddenly you’ve found something you didn’t plan on… but definitely aren’t leaving without.

✨ A little more energy, a little more buzz… and a lot of “wait, this is so cute” moments.

Why Shop Local Markets?

There’s a different kind of energy when you buy something handmade in person.

You get:

  • the story behind the piece

  • the chance to feel it, hold it, connect with it

  • and the memory of where you found it

It’s not just “another purchase.”
It becomes part of your day… and somehow, that makes it matter more.

But there’s something else happening, too.

When you shop at local markets, you’re investing directly back into your own community. You’re supporting:

  • small businesses and families

  • local artists and makers

  • real people building something meaningful

Every purchase helps keep these markets alive… which means more events, more creativity, and more spaces for people to gather, connect, and create memories together.

✨ It’s not just a purchase… it’s something you actually remember.

Come Find Us

We’ll be at all of these upcoming markets, bringing a collection of plushies that look like they wandered out of a storybook and decided to stay.

If you’ve been following along online, this is your chance to meet them in person.

And fair warning… some of them don’t make it to the end of the day.
